Radiator covers and cabinets provide a finishing touch to a room or hallway, transforming an old radiator into an attractive design feature. Due to the innovative design of the bespoke radiator covers, the warm air is pushed forwards into the room, making your home more energy efficient. The front panel is removable, providing easy access to the radiator valves.

Finish Options

What finishes are available?

Jali offers 24 Paint Colours, Real Oak Veneer, White Primer and Plain MDF. The paint is water based and eco-friendly. Colour & Finish Details

Can I paint my furniture myself?

Of course! For the most affordable option choose plain MDF. To give yourself a head start, choose White Primer. Any paint type will do. You can use a brush, a roller or spray. For darker colours, you'll often need more than one coat. About 1L for a medium sized radiator cover should be enough.

Size Options

What radiator cover sizes do you sell?

Any! You can customise the height, width and depth to get the perfect fit for your radiator. In the Jali Designer, just follow the guide under the Size menu.

How much clearance do I need?

Between the radiator (including any valves) and the inside of the unit, we recommend a 30mm clearance at each side, 30mm at the front, and 70mm above. The material is mostly 18mm thick, except for 30mm tops.

How do I measure my radiator?

A trick to measuring your radiator accurately is to use a book (or any flat object) to help read the tape measure. How to Measure Your Radiator. Include any radiator valves as part of the width.

Style Options

What radiator cover features can I adjust?

Many! In addition to the sizes, fitting and finish options, you can adjust the fretwork grille and detailing on the radiator cover top, skirting and uprights.

What radiator cover styles do you offer?

You can mix and match different style options to make your radiator cover truly unique, including classic, contemporary and ornate detailing.

I want something really modern...

One especially popular style is the flush option. See Flush Example. Choose 'Flush' in the Jali designer skirting menu, which automatically updates the skirting and top with a minimal shadow gap detailing.

Fitting Options

What if my radiator is somewhere weird?

Most radiators are positioned in the middle of walls, but Jali lets you design corner and alcove radiator covers too.

Can I fit a radiator cover to my skirting?

Jali lets you set the radiator cover skirting height to match your room skirting board. You can scribe the radiator cover skirting to fit perfectly. See an example in this video. Or, include a rectangular gap in your design.

Oh no, my walls aren't straight!

To fit your radiator cover between wonky walls, you can extend the insets. This will give you enough scribing margin for the perfect fit.

Your Questions Answered

Can I access my radiator once the cover is fitted?

All Jali made to measure radiator covers have removeable front panels for easy access to your radiator and valves.

They are secured with magnetic catches and the front panels are easily removed. If you’ve fixed the body of the radiator cover to the wall, it can stay where it is; there’s no need to unscrew it from the wall.

Does a radiator cover waste heat?

A radiator cover will generally help to push warm air into the room.

Without a radiator cover, warm air from the radiator can travel up the wall and collect at ceiling level. With our bespoke radiator covers, you can include a skirting gap which helps to draw cold air in. This air is heated and pushed back out through the top vent and grille, making your home more energy efficient.

Can I fit a radiator cover around a thermostat?

Having thermostatic valves is not a problem; you just need to decide whether you want the valve inside or outside the radiator cover, which may depend on the size and position of the valve. Thermostatic valve manufacturers recommend leaving them outside; however, sometimes this is not wanted or physically impossible in which case you can simply turn up the thermostat to take into account that it is inside the cover.
