Can I paint my furniture myself?
Of course! For the most affordable option choose plain MDF. To give yourself a head start, choose White Primer. Any paint type will do. You can use a brush, a roller or spray. For darker colours, you'll often need more than one coat.
Size Options
What sizes can I adjust?
You can easily edit the width and depth. We default to using millimetres, but you can switch to other units if you prefer. The shelf itself is 18mm thick, and the batons are 30mm tall. Be aware that wider or larger shelving requires more support. It is crucial that you fasten the battens effectively to your wall, which may depend on your wall type.
How do I create multiple shelves?
In the designer, use the Quantity menu in the Size tab. As well as adjusting the number of shelves, you can visualise the result by setting the interval height and the distance from the floor.
Style Options
What styling features can I adjust?
You can choose to embellish your shelving by including a rounded front edge, or a 54mm tall front piece 'lip'. This gives the impression of extra chunky shelving. To complete the chunky shelving look, simply order some matching 6mm MDF Shapes and glue them in place from below. This hides the battens from view.
How many battens should I have?
We've given you the option to include 2, 3 or no battens (if you already have a support system in place). The battens should be screwed to the wall. The shelf is fixed to the batten using cam bolts, which are fastened with a pozi screwdriver via an access hole in the batten. Wider shelves or shelves intended to bear more load should make use of the third batten at the back.
